Happy Earth Day 2025 – You Have the Power to Drive Big Change!

Every year on April 22, over a billion people come together to celebrate Earth Day.

The very first Earth Day took place in 1970, when a US senator organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues.

That same year, the U.S. government responded by creating the Environmental Protection Agency. By 1990, Earth Day had grown into a global movement celebrated by more than 140 countries around the world.

Fast forward to 2025, and this year’s Earth Day theme Your Planet, Your Power reminds us that even small changes can add up to make a big difference.

If you’re looking to introduce Earth Day to your little ones, here are some easy and fun eco-friendly activities to try:

Recycled Art Projects

Gather clean recyclables like cardboard tubes, egg cartons, and bottle caps, and let your toddler’s imagination take the lead. Create robots, animals, or abstract masterpieces all while learning about the value of reusing materials.

Nature Walk & Litter Pick-Up

Take a walk in your local park or neighborhood and bring a small bag and gloves to safely collect any litter you find. It’s a great way to open a conversation about how trash affects wildlife and the environment.

Make a Bird Feeder

Use an empty toilet paper roll, cover it with peanut butter (or a nut-free alternative), and roll it in birdseed. Hang it from a tree branch and watch the birds enjoy a tasty treat!

DIY Compost Jar

Start a mini compost jar using a clear container and a mix of kitchen scraps. Let your child observe how things break down over time and discover how food waste can be turned into nutrient-rich compost for plants.

Create a “Lights Out” Hour

Choose one hour during the day to switch off all lights and screens. Use this time to read by natural light, play board games, do puzzles, or head outside. It’s a fun way to introduce the idea of conserving energy.

Plant Power
Planting seeds—whether outdoors or indoors—is a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity for little ones. It teaches them to follow instructions, get their hands dirty, and most importantly, understand the vital role plants play for humans and animals alike.

By taking part in these small but meaningful activities, you’re planting the seeds for a greener future—and showing your children just how powerful their everyday choices can be.

Happy Earth Day!
