Christmas with a baby is magical - but let’s be honest, it can also feel a little overwhelming. Between feeds, naps, and a routine totally unlike Christmases gone by, the festive season may look a little different this year, and that’s okay. Here are five simple tips to help you slow down, soak it in, and truly enjoy Christmas with your little one.
1. Lower the expectations
This Christmas doesn’t need to be Insta-perfect. Skip the pressure to attend every event or host the ideal dinner. A cosy day at home, cuddling your baby in festive pyjamas, is more than enough.
2. Create one small tradition
It could be as simple as a Christmas Eve bath, a special outfit, or taking a photo by the tree. One meaningful tradition is easier to manage and something you’ll repeat and cherish for years to come.
3. Follow your baby’s rhythm
Try not to fight naps or feeds for the sake of plans. A well-rested baby (and parents!) makes the day far more enjoyable. It’s okay to step away or say no when needed.
4. Accept help (and say yes to shortcuts)
If you're lucky enough to get the chance, let others cook, clean, or hold the baby while you rest. This season is about survival and joy, not perfection.
5. Capture the moments - then be present
Take a few photos, but don’t forget to put the phone down. The quiet moments - milk-drunk smiles, contact naps by the tree, tiny hands clutching your finger - are the real magic.
