You’ve probably heard that our diapers are enhanced with organic cotton. Sounds good right? But what does that really mean, and why do we use this particular ingredient in our safe and sustainable diapers? Read on to find out…
Where is the organic cotton used?
Disposable diapers provide a super convenient, affordable and effective way to keep your baby’s bottom clean.
But every year billions of disposable diapers are thrown away in the US. In each one takes hundreds of years to degrade – long outliving the babies they were used on.
In response, there’s a lot of sustainable innovation happening in the baby care sector right now, to try to minimize the impact of caring for babies.
Eco-friendly or eco diapers are those that have been developed to try to minimize the impact on the planet by using more sustainable materials and/or manufacturing processes.
So to ensure ours are eco-friendly, wherever possible, we’ve replaced plastics and non-renewable materials with more sustainable ones such as the organic cotton in the back sheet of the diaper.
Good for baby
Your baby’s skin safety and comfort is our number one priority. Organic cotton is a natural ingredient and therefore could be less likely to cause allergic reactions or skin irritations. Our entire diaper is certified by Allergy UK to be safe for eczema prone and sensitive skin.
Organic cotton is luxuriously soft, providing cloud like comfort for your baby’s bottom. The whole diaper is designed to let your baby’s skin breathe, helping prevent diaper rash by allowing air to circulate around the baby's skin. With Pura diapers, only plant-based materials touch babies’ skin, making them super safe.
Organic cotton is not treated with pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers. We also ensure that the rest of our diapers are free from any nasties. Our diapers are Totally Chlorine Free, which means they aren’t bleached with the chlorine, so they are safer for babies’ skin. They are made without fragrance, lotion, parabens, natural rubber latex and phthalates.
Good for planet
Organic farming practices eliminate the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, which can contaminate soil and water sources. This helps preserve biodiversity and protect ecosystems.
Organic cotton is grown using methods that promote soil health, such as crop rotation and composting. This reduces soil erosion and increases soil fertility, leading to more sustainable farming practices.
Organic cotton farming typically uses less energy and produces fewer greenhouse gases compared to conventional cotton farming. This contributes to reducing the overall carbon footprint.
Pura’s entire diaper is created using carbon neutral manufacturing, with green electricity and no production waste to landfill.
We are currently innovating to bring you and your baby the softest and most sustainable diaper around. Help you care for your family and your baby at the same time.
